The Exploring Computer Science class completed a Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich activity. This activity had the students design a program with a set of instructions for a computer to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Mr. Ratcliff then took the computer’s role of acting out the instructions for two students with hilarious outcomes. For example, one of the instructions didn’t say to remove the bread from the bag, so Mr. Ratcliff spread the peanut butter and jelly on the bag. Afterwards the students paired up and took turns running each other’s instructions. Through this activity, the students learned the importance of being specific and not leaving things open to interpretation when coding, otherwise they might not get the desired outcome.
