About “Coach Fred”

In February of 1996, my wife Dee and I decided to purchase a restaurant and move to Riggins. Dee was raised here and is a 1979 graduate of SRHS.  Riggins was also the location of our wedding way back in March of 1981!!  It was important for us to be close to our extended families and to raise our daughter (Kaitlin – SRHS class of 2005) in an area that we love. We were blessed with a son (Joe – class of 2018) who was born and raised in Riggins. While we no longer are “Restaurateurs” … we are invested in several business that utilize the fantastic recreational opportunities based in the Salmon River canyon.

I began working at Salmon River Schools as football and strength coach in August, 1996. After many years in Riggins as a business owner and a school volunteer, I was hired as a full-time maintenance supervisor in February of 2008. During this time I continued to work with our school as varsity and Jr. High football and track athletes and volunteer weight-room coach. I began teaching History and Government in 2012 while working on my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership at the University of Idaho and in 2015, became Dean of Students at SRHS. The next chapter began on Monday April 18, 2016 when I was hired as the SRHS and SRMS Principal.

As Principal, I aspire to create a school culture and educational program conducive to student learning and development. Families are under tremendous challenges today, and I seek to foster positive behavior, student and faculty teamwork, and cooperation in the school environment. I will initiate and lead programs to provide clear, concise information both internally to professional staff and externally to students and parents.

I am very fired up to begin this challenge. I am thankful for the support of my family, peers, mentors and our community – SAVAGE PRIDE!
