It’s Girls BB Tournament Time!

GIRLS BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

All games will be played at Meadows Valley High School

Cascade, Council, Garden Valley, Salmon River, Tri-Valley

 

General Tournament Information:

All day 1 games are single elimination; all other tournament games are a double elimination format. The 1st place team of the district tournament will advance to the state tournament. The 2nd place team of the district tournament will advance to the play-in game at Canyon Ridge High School in Twin Falls on Saturday, February 11 at 1:00 pm. They will play the second place team from District 5-6.

Programs will be available at the gate.

 

 

 

 

 

Game Ball:

The game ball will be provided by Salmon River

 

Towels:

Teams will need to provide their own towel for the bench area and for showering.

 

 

Officials:

Officials will be designated by the Third District Board of Control. The official scorer for each game will be the home team scorer and will be the official book. The official timer will be assigned by the tournament manager.

 

Admission Prices:

Adults $6.00, Students without activity card $6.00, Students with activity card $4.00 Elementary students $4.00. The only passes that will be accepted will be the IHSAA pass and the United Dairymen of Idaho pass. There will be no reserved seating or complimentary passes. These are district games and League/Season passes shall not be accepted.

 

Cheerleaders:

Cheerleaders will be admitted free of charge when their school is playing. Cheerleaders must be in uniform. One cheerleader advisor will be admitted free. The cheerleaders need to be in an area that is close to their schools fan seating area. The tournament manager will assign a seating area for each school’s student body and fans. Athletic Directors and coaches should remind fans and students that sportsmanship is a key concern.

 

Pep Bands:

Schools must notify the tournament director of their intent to bring a pep band at least one day prior to the game. Bands must be instructed to play only during time outs and appropriate dead ball situations. Bands will be admitted free of charge. Band directors must identify band students and only one band director is admitted free of charge. Bands must be instructed that they can perform only when their school has taken the court to play. Bands must stop playing when the teams for the next game have taken the court

 

Uniforms:

Each team is instructed to have a light and dark set of jerseys. The team listed on the top of the bracket will be the home team and wear the light colored uniforms. The home team, wearing the light colored uniforms will sit to the right of the scoring table (as you face it) and will be the home team on the scoreboard.

 

Halftime:

Any school wanting to perform at halftime must have prior approval from the tournament director. Half time performances may not exceed four minutes

 

 

 

 

Rosters:

Please send a current roster of the team you are going to have at districts. Please check to make sure that all numbers are correct.

 

On two game nights the first game will start on time; the second game could be 10-15 minutes earlier or later depending on game situations and injuries or other unforeseen interruptions. Each team will be allowed a 15 minute warm-up time.

 

IHSAA Sportsmanship Rules

Face Painting: Full and/or half face painting is not permitted. Partial face painting is permitted, such as small markings on cheeks, nose and forehead.

 

Posters/Banners: All signs must show only positive support. Those that direct negative comments toward opponents, or are unsportsmanlike, are not permitted.

 

Artificial Noisemakers: Artificial noisemakers are not allowed. These include items such as megaphones, air horns, bells, whistles, thunder sticks and clickers.

 

Balloons: Balloons are not allowed at any IHSAA play-in or state championship event

 

Behavior: The following behaviors are not allowed:

  • Entering the competition area before, during or after a contest
  • Throwing objects onto the competition areas before, during or after a contest
  • Verbal harassment or derogatory remarks directed towards any player, coach, opponent or official

 

Attire: Bare chests are not permitted. Shirts must be worn.
